2/27/06 Clausen Wins! Though it seemed that he was running out of fish, Luke Clausen of Spokane Valley Washington actually increased his spread on the final day of the 2006 Bassmaster Classic, to win going away with a three day total of 56-02.  Clausen's final day of 11-13 was mild compared to his day one when he weighed a breath taking 29-06, essentially getting two days worth of weight in one.

Clausen visited the same Lily Pad field about 55 minutes South of the Launch ramp in the Kissimmee Lake each of the three days and targeted spawning bass that were bedding inside clumps of pads.  Though his weight decreased each day, he was able to get a big bite each of his final two days to help his weight.  On day two his near six pound bass helped him weigh nearly 15 pounds and on day three, he had the day's big bass, a 5-13 "twin" of his day two fish.  Clausen takes home the second $500,000.00 check of his career, having won the FLW Tour Championship in 2004.
