Pre Fish-
The live bait guys have been killing them here during pre fish,
those of us using bait, well....It has been tough. Florida
seems to be in a weather pattern cycle that is making these fish
have a tough time figure out what they want to do. On Saturday, I
had a 17 pound limit, using a number of different reaction
techniques. The wind blew a little bit, and the fish
responded. Sunday, I fished in a different area and had a poor
fishing day. I watched the shinner guides put their clients on fish
all day, but I couldn't get much going Monday, the fishing was
better, and the weather was strange. I bet the air temperature
fluctuated 20-25 degrees. I fished in shorts, tee shirt and sandals
until a cloud would pass in front of the sun, and then it was
snowmobile suit time. I must have changed three or four times. The
Water temperature is still in the high 50's and reaching the low
60's by mid afternoons. I have had some flip fish, and a
pretty soft plastic rip bait bite that I will check tomorrow. |

Day One
Well, I wouldn't call today a disaster, but I am just not fishing
in good rhythm right now. I lost two good fish, one may have
been a real good fish. I saw the two and half pounder that
came off, and I never got the other one through the grass matt to
see it. I caught my first two fish very early today, (2nd and
5th casts,) and my non boater also caught one early. I was
throwing a soft plastic jerk bait and he was throwing a weighted
speed worm. Then nothing. I can't believe how the bite
shut off.
I have the bank that I am fishing all to myself. It is a
good bank, I caught about 17 pounds there on Saturday, (didn't
actually catch, but pulled on,) Today, was calm without a breath of
air, I could have used a breeze. Hopefully tomorrow, we will
get some wind. I did manage a 3 1/2 pounder off of a
dock later in the day. I am about two pounds out of a $10,000
check, I figure if I can get 12 pounds, (a very average limit,) I
can cash one.
