ProBassAnglers.com accepts fully, the opinions expressed here, on account that they are the opinions of our Ultimate Universal Visionary, and while I may not agree with him, he is my boss, and I do like to eat, so what choice do I have?
The topic of today's press conference is BassFan's Scot H. Laney's October 28th editorial in which he has uncovered what best can be described as a plot, by some unscrupulous media outlets to attempt to pass off as an interview, what best can be described as editorial.
The following transcript is a prepared statement from The Ultimate Universal Visionary of ProBassAnglers.com.
UUV-Thank you all for coming today on such short notice. I will get right to the point of this press release. I wish to congratulate and commend BassFan.com's Scot H. Laney's investigative journalism in uncovering what I am calling a "plot" on the part of some media outlets, to pass on the "company line" in the form of a pseudo interview.
I am both shocked and appalled that a "so called" media outlet could allow one or more of it's journalists to conduct something as outrageous as an interview with himself.
The idea that a journalist would pretend to be an interviewer, so that he could ask the kinds of questions that he would want to answer, thus, allowing himself to make the point that he wanted to make in the first place, without having to take the heat for the answers is, in a word, preposterous, ridiculous, outrageous, outlandish and just plain silly.
I applaud Scot H. Laney's heroic efforts to expose those who would try to degrade all of the great inroads that legitimate media outlets such as BassFan.com, BassZone.com and ProBassAnglers.com have worked so hard to create. Without the hard working journalists that legitimately report to the bass fishing world, the news and notes of the day, the modern fan of professional fishing would be left to believing the company line that is fed to us via the web sites and publications of the fishing organizations themselves. It is this brand of investigative journalism that makes me proud to be an American. Will you now please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance.
(He leads the saying of the Pledge.)
Furthermore, I find it reprehensible that the staff of ProBassAnglers.com did not first uncover this troubling story. I am condemning the work of ProBassAnglers.com's own editorial writer, Keith Nighswonger for being so busy fooling around with that mindless ranting and raving that he does, that he completely missed this story. It is foolish acts like these that can make a news outlet number two in a hurry, and I assure our adoring readers, that I will deal with Nighswonger very soon.
I'm sure that in the next few days, ProBassAnglers.com will have more to say about this shocking development in the world of Bass Fishing. Rest well America, Rest well.
