  Keith Nighswonger's Brush Pile
Tips, tactics, inside information, what's knew and exciting.  The Brush Pile is an up to the minute rendering of what I know about bass fishing, (no jokes, please.)  Whether its a live update from one of our pro correspondents or just something that I came across. If it is something that I think you will find interesting,  you will find it here.....in the Brush Pile.

Be sure to catch Keith Nighswonger each week, as he does his "On The Water" radio show.  The show is recorded at the AdrenalineRadio.com studios and then archived so that you can listen when you have time.  We have had requests to leave archived shows up for longer periods of time, (one week is the standard show posting,)  We would love to leave our shows up longer but would need a sponsor to do so.  If you would like to sponsor a show archive section, (you would be a hero to a lot of people,) please contact us by clicking here.

July 21st, Blown Away! I had the distinct honor of interviewing Gary Klein for this week's "On The Water," and I must say that he is way above the rest of us in terms of his understanding of this hole bass fishing game. He talked about several Classic experiences that were painful and really put the whole Classic thing into perspective. Gary Klein is a ticking time bomb, meaning that he has been a threat to win every Classic (22 with this year,)that he has ever been in. He says he doesn't really have enough going to win, but don't count him out. If the most difficult thing to do in our sport is winning a tour event, Klein has done that eight times. If its winning angler of the year, he has done that as well. It is only a matter of time before he puts the final jewel in his crown.

July 17th, 2004- ICAST 2005 I just got back from ICAST 2005 and it was a blast. Lost of new things to look forward to. Be sure to check out our COY Awards, as they are added through out the week and be sure to check our our live broadcasts from the booths of companies like Bagleys and Lucky Craft just to name a few.

July 14th, 2004- BassMaster Classic Allows Most Of Us To Watch Pros Struggle Under The Conditions WE ALWAYS HAVE TO FISH Hey, no sour grapes here, but the Classic is in two weeks and those guys are going to face some difficult conditions. Consider this: The Charlotte Metro area is the home to over one million people, many of whom are boaters. More over, many of those folks like to fish for largemouth bass. It figures then, that there will be a lot of spectators on the water during the Classic. Kevin Van Dam said the other day, "I have had up to 80 boats following me, when they move around it causes a lot of chop on the water, it affects the fish." Now, no one wants to see anybody suffer, especially with so much on the line, but I am really excited about watching how these guys adjust to the boat traffic. It will kind of be like fishing a Classic on Lake Castaic on a Saturday in the middle of the Summer.

July 8th, 2004- Something Very Cool Is Happening In Las Vegas Next Week... And unlike Vegas, (you know, what happens is Vegas stays in Vegas, We will be there to give you every single detail." What I am talking about of course, is the American Sportfishing Association's annual ICAST show. ICAST is where all of the tackle companies, large and small, (well maybe not all, but most,) showcase their new products for 2004-2005. The bummer is that the show is not a consumer show which means the public is not invited, however the media is always welcome, and thats where we come in. Next Thursday, July 15th, I will be conducting a live Product Showcase broadcast from the ICAST show in Las Vegas. The show will be archived incase you miss it. This show will feature a "whats hot," approach to all of the new, innovative products that we can expect to see in tackle shops in the upcoming months. This will be the first place you will hear about these things, as it will take print media a couple of months to get their reviews out. This should be cool.

July 7th, 2004- How Will The Classic Guys Deal With All Of The Spectators? One thing that bass pros are famous for is getting away from the crowds. In last year's Classic, it was easy to lose would be spectators in the labyrinth of canals on the Louisiana Delta. This it won't be as easy. Lake Wylie promises to be a spectator friendly event and tournament leaders should expect to quite a crowd following them around. "There are a lot of knowledgeable fishermen living in the area and I don't think there will be a single participant that will not have a least a few boats following them," notes Classic Qualifier and Lake Wylie resident, Jason Quinn. With that in mind, we will be talking to several of this year's participants and getting their ideas about dealing with the boat traffic.

July 6th, 2004- Would You Dare Crank With Eight Pound Test? Maybe not, but did you know that the lighter you go on line, the deeper your deep diving cranks will go and the better their performance, as in the action of the lure?  Did you know this?  Now, I would not fish a deep diver on eight pound line, but I would and do fish my deep diving Fat Free Shad cranks on 10 pound Power Pro Braided line.  The braided line allows me to fish with a line that has an equivalent line diameter of 2 pound test.  Plus, the added feel of the braided line allows me to feel every rock, and stump down there.  Oh yeah, I can feel the fish better as well.
