Follow Up In Reverse How many times have you had a bass follow your worm or jig back to the boat? Most anglers know about following up with a worm or tube jig, but what do you do when the opposite happens? The name Denny Brauer is no stranger to Bass Fishing's Winner's Circle. Recently he again proved why he is arguably the most dominant angler on the pro circuit today. In winning the BASS Alabama Central Open event on Lake Wheeler, Brauer pitched his name-sake Strike King Pro Model 1/2 oz jig to a brush pile and watched as a large bass followed it back out to the boat. "We always see situations where a bass will follow a reaction lure without biting, and often we can get that fish by pitching a jig or tube to the spot where the fish showed. This was kind of in reverse." Brauer picked up his cranking rod with a Strike King Crank bait and proceeded to make about 15 casts to the cut near the brush where the bass had come from. Finally, the fish bit, Brauer put him in the boat and credits that fish as winning the tournament for him. His margin of victory was one pound. Oh, yeah, the fish weighed over 4 pounds and was big fish of the day. Today's tournament pro, always thinking, making adjustments and discovering new ways to unlock bass fishing's treasure chest. |
