Dressing For Success

Perhaps the one thing anglers take for granted more than anything else is what they wear for a day "On The Water."  In winning the 2003 BASS New York Open, Tour Pro, Art Ferguson  III credits his clothing for his success in the event.

Driving wind and rain, perhaps signaling an early Winter in the North East made fishing quite miserable for the competitors in the event, in fact, the final day was called off due to dangerous conditions.  Ferguson was able to fish comfortably each day in large part because he was dressed properly.

"I have really been concentrating on keeping myself comfortable in this events.  This week, that meant staying warm and dry."

Ferguson's attire is all about layers:

  • Wool Socks

  • Water Proof boots

  • Long Underware

  • 2 rain suits

  • Hooded shirt

  • billed cap under the hood

What? You say this column isn't about fishing.  It is everything about fishing.  "I was able to fish in comfort while others were miserable.  For me dressing the right way is as important as any lure I might use."

Dressing For Success?  Oh Yes!
