Keeping It "Reel"

Paducah, Kentucky Pro Terry Bolton offers some very sound advice that should help you stay sharp when it comes to finding bass on new lakes.  "When I am home, away from the tournament trial, I like to get out the map of my local lake and study an area that I never fish.  I then head out and try to find a fish catching pattern in that part of the lake that is for the most part, alien to me.  I find that this practice helps me stay sharp when it comes to preparing for tournaments because when you are practicing for a tournament, you are fishing areas that you never, or rarely ever fish." States Bolton.

"Fishing new water on my home lake, forces me to use the fish finding skills that I have developed over the years, and this includes my intuition, my understanding of seasonal patterns and my understanding of how bass use available cover and structure."

"Far too many anglers get into the rut of running over to the meat wall or lunker point.  There really is no skill in finding fish in that situation."

Sound advice for staying sharp.
