The
Stump
With Robert Townsend

Deep within the landscape of today's bass fishing world, after all of the layers are removed. When the flash and glitter of the made for television event dies off, and The Tour moves on. There is left in place the angler, who purely for the thrill of "chunkin and windin" pays a cautious attention to the fast world of big time bass events. This angler, who wants only to fish and protect the resource, watches the world around him, and has a few things to say.
Robert Townsend is a Federation angler, or whatever we are calling his people these days, who love to fish, worry about conservation of our resource and understand the role that youth must play in the development of our sport as well as our society. He is ex military, and speaks with the demeanor of someone who has seen battle and understands that it is a last resort to solving anything.
In keeping with the spirit of the Brushpile, a place where you might even be able to catch a fish on occasion, "The Stump" is place with multiple significance. First, the stump is that place you should always make sure to bounce a spinner bait, or crank bait off of, because you never know who might be hanging out there. Second, the stump is an obstacle, sitting there below the surface waiting to tear off a lower unit or tweak a propeller, and third, the stump is a place where villagers and members of small towns used to gather when issues of the day, needed to be discussed. Sometimes stumps were used to cut the heads off of Turkeys and Chickens.
The Stump will be a sounding board for issues which affect the Federation Angler. Townsend will call it like he sees it, and again, in the spirit of the The Brushpile, his, will be nothing more than honest opinion. Such will be the purpose of "The Stump." Turkeys and Chickens beware!
Do You have something to say to Robert? Step up to The Stump.
