Less Is More When Choosing Winter Crank Baits

FLW Pro, Terry Bolton prefers a crank bait with a very tight wobble for covering water during the cold months of Winter.  "When the water is cold, as it is in the Winter, I find that Bass want a less aggressive presentation. While other times of the year, we try to overwhelm their senses with rattles, bells and whistles, it really seems to me in the Winter that less is more." 

Bolton targets lifeless Gizzard Shad on TVA impoundments in the Winter that tend to float and flutter as the cold water causes massive die offs.  "There is nothing aggressive about these helpless Gizzard Shad that just flutter below the surface as they die off in the cold water.  A crank bait with a tight wobble mimics their action very well."
